Registering with LifeWay Lessons & Sign In

If I have a LifeWay.com user ID and password, can I use this on LifeWay Lessons?

No. You must set up a user ID and password with LifeWayLessons.com. You may use the same User ID and password that you use with LifeWay.com, but you must set it up in LifeWay Lessons.com.

Why am I being asked to supply other peoples’ e-mail addresses?

If you are a minister of education or other administrator, and you are purchasing materials that other teachers/leaders will need to access, you must supply the e-mail addresses for those teachers so the system can send them an automated “invitation” via e-mail. Once they click the link in that e-mail to “accept” the invitation, and supply their own registration information, they’ll have access to the materials you’ve purchased for their class. This is the only way the system can link each teacher with the appropriate materials that were purchased specifically by their church for their class.

Do my teachers/leaders have to register with LifeWay Lessons?

Yes. Your teachers/leaders will set up a LifeWay Lessons account with user ID and password after they receive an e-mail “invitation” from the LifeWay Lessons site. The e-mail provides a link which takes them to a registration page.

What access will my teachers/leaders have once they register with LifeWay Lessons?

They will have access to download the curriculum that you purchased for their class use.

Can teachers/leaders just go to LifeWayLessons.com, sign up without the e-mail link and access what I have purchased?

Your teachers/leaders must enter the site through the e-mail “invitation” link in order to access what you purchased for their class. Any individual, however, may personally register at LifeWayLessons.com and purchase materials for a single class.

Curriculum

What do I get for $1.50 per person?

Customizable teaching plans, commentaries, and the reproducible learner handouts for a full quarter (usually 13 weeks).

Can I search LifeWay Lessons by topic?

This feature is not yet available. To find out which Bible verses and topics will be available for the current quarter, click on the adult or student curriculum icon on the LifeWayLessons.com home page.

Is this just for use in Sunday School?

These Bible study lessons can be used in many different Bible study settings.

What are the choices for the Adult Curriculum?

You have the following options for your classes built around the life stages of your adults:

Life Matters : Bible study for young adults
Life Truths : Bible study for parents of children and teens
Life Values : Bible study for adults dealing with the "empty nest" life stage
Life Lessons : Bible study relevant for adults of all ages
Explore the Bible : an 8-year systematic study of all the Bible books

Why is Life Ventures not being offered as a downloadable option?

Many Life Ventures users prefer the traditional printed curriculum resources. At this point, Life Ventures will not be offered as an option. For teachers/leaders who want to customize Life Ventures lessons we suggest you purchase the Life Ventures Leader Pack with the CDRom.

What are the choices for the Student Curriculum?

Life Focus: Equip your leaders and student with great Bible study lessons that are easy to prepare and use, delivered over the Internet, relevant, and that help students own and live their faith. These biblically-based lessons include features such as “Session-at-a-Glance,” “Going Deeper,” reproducible student handouts and take home sheets, parent newsletters, and multiple teaching options. The lessons may be use as-is or customized to fit your group’s needs.

Is Life Focus the only choice for Student Curriculum on LifeWay Lessons?

Currently, Life Focus is the only downloadable option for student classes. However, LifeWay offers a range of other student curriculum choices, available in other formats. Visit www.lifeway.com/student for more information.

Will I have the option to download color handouts?

Not at this time. Since many people will not have access to inexpensive color copiers, we have provided files that will look best when reproduced on a black and white copier.

How do my teachers/leaders download the curriculum selected for them?

After you enter their name, e-mail, and curriculum selection, your teachers/leaders will receive an e-mail link inviting them to register with LifeWay Lessons and download their curriculum. You will have access to a class/group management page showing a notification when your teachers have responded.

If I am a Minister of Education can I print or download a copy of my curriculum choices for myself?

Yes. You may download or print a copy of each curriculum purchased for your review or files.

Before I purchase, where do I find what we will studying for the quarter?

You can view this on the home page of LifeWay Lessons by clicking on the Adult or Student curriculum links.

I have questions about the content in my lessons. Who do I contact?

I have church members who are in the military and are currently deployed and have internet access. Are there any special allowances in providing them with LifeWay Lessons curriculum?

Set up each of them as a class, as a teacher of a class, or a group of them as multiple teachers for one or more classes. Purchase one copy of each of the curriculum titles they might use. Permission is granted for those serving in the military who are deployed to reproduce copies to facilitate Bible study by themselves or in any size group.

Groups & Classes

How will my teachers/leaders know their curriculum is available to download?

They will receive an e-mail “invitation” with a special link to LifeWay Lessons.

What do I do when my teacher/leader does not have an e-mail address?

Please consider if ordering downloadable materials for this teacher/leader is appropriate at this time. Using an e-mail address is currently the only way to make the delivery process work. LifeWay’s full range of printed curriculum options is still available for any teachers.

Can we update & add teachers in the middle of a quarter if one drops out?

Yes. You can access the class/group management page and add a teacher at any time. You will need to click on the e-mail link “Invite Leader” to send them an e-mail.

What do my teachers/leaders do for the learners who want to study their lesson a week ahead?

There are two options. Teachers may e-mail the learner handout for the next week to their learners or duplicate it and hand it out at the end of class each week.

Do I need to worry about how many copies my teacher/leaders may print, or about them sending the files to someone else who is not authorized?

You should remind teachers/leaders that your church is purchasing a license for the average attendance in their class and these files are to be used only for the assigned class.

Pricing

 How much does LifeWayLessons.com cost?

The price for LifeWayLessons.com is $1.50 per person, per quarter.

LifeWayLessons.com provides digital files for Bible study leaders and class members that may be printed and copied for use in the Bible study. The price for LifeWayLessons.com is based on the average number of people, per class, who will be using the materials you download and copy. The pricing is based on the number of copies you make of the downloaded files. Usually, that should equal the average attendance of each class using LifeWay Lessons.com.

We have visitors and our attendance fluctuates from week-to-week. How do I determine how many copies to pay for?

 Determine the average attendance for each class using the lessons, and pay for that number.

My class is growing. Do I need to pay you more as the class grows?

If the class average attendance grows over the quarter, simply make the adjustment when you order your next quarter of curriculum.

For example, if the average attendance of the class today is 12, pay for 12 people. That’s good for the entire quarter—even if you have to make a few extra copies to cover the growth of your class. (We’re happy your class is growing!) If the class is averaging 15 people per quarter by next quarter, simply increase your order and payment to 15 for the next quarter’s materials.

My class is getting smaller. How much should I pay?

Using the same principle as that of a growing class, pay for your average attendance. If the average attendance is smaller next quarter, reduce your next order to that smaller number.

Some of my class members still want a Sunday School learner guide. Some only want the reproducible handout every week. Do I need to pay for both?

 One of the benefits of LifeWayLessons.com is that the digital lessons work seamlessly with the printed curriculum resources from LifeWay. If some of your class is using a printed learner guide from LifeWay you may provide a copy of the reproducible handout for them without paying the fee for those individuals. This will allow your members to use the resources they desire to use for their personal Bible study, without raising your costs.

An example: For your class of 20 people, if you have 10 people who still want a printed learner guide from LifeWay, and 10 people who only want the reproducible handout from LifeWayLessons.com, you may buy 10 printed learner guides from LifeWay and pay for 10 copies of the LifeWay Lessons.com materials, but you may make 20 copies of the reproducible handout for use in your class.

What if I just want my teachers/leaders to have this and my learners to stay with the printed learner guide?

You will just order one copy per teacher/leader.

This seems like an honor system for payment. How will LifeWay know how many copies we’re making?

 You’re right. It is an “honor” system. We trust you.

Purchasing

Can I use my LifeWay Account?

Yes you may use your LifeWay Account. You will be asked in the billing information step to provide your LifeWay account number and pin. If your church does not have a LifeWay account you will need to pay by credit card.

Can anyone open a LifeWay Account?

LifeWay Accounts are only for churches. If your church is interested in opening a LifeWay account please call 800.453.9775 Monday-Friday 8am to 4pm central time.

What is the CVV2 that I’m asked to supply when purchasing by credit card?

This is a security feature found on credit cards, to help prevent fraudulent purchases. For MasterCard, Visa, and Discover cards, it will always be the last 3 digits on the back of the credit card. For American Express cards, it will be a 4-digit number printed on the front side of the card, above the card number, and is referred to as the “CID”.

Can I charge to multiple statement accounts?

At this time you can only charge to one LifeWay Account Number per User ID. To use multiple statement accounts, please set up a User ID and password for each account.

How do I order for multiple classes, in the same department, who use the same curriculum?

When you get to the “Manage Groups and Classes” section, you will enter the total number of average attendees for that department, choose curriculum and then add the multiple teachers. Example would be: Group Name: Adult 9:30 Department, Attendees: 200, Life Values and then the individual teachers’ names and e-mails.

What do I do if I complete my transaction and realize I selected the wrong curriculum for a class?

 First, reorder the correct curriculum. Then, click here to send us an e-mail. In the e-mail please give the order reference number, group name, leader name and quantity to be deleted from order. We will make an adjustment on your account. Please note that the teacher may receive both e-mail invitations to get the incorrect and correct curriculum.

 What do I do if I complete my transaction and entered incorrect class attendance?

 If you did not order enough curriculum, go back and create another order for that group for the difference. If you ordered too much curriculum, click here to send us an e-mail with your name and phone number, order reference number, group name, leader name and quantity to be credited. We will adjust your account.

How long will the current quarter be available to purchase?

The current quarter will be available for purchase until the last Sunday of that quarter.

When will the next quarter be available to purchase?

Approximately 90 days prior to the first Sunday of each quarter. Example: Winter quarter (Dec., Jan., Feb.,) will be available about September 1.

Accessing the Materials

What is Adobe Acrobat Reader and why do I need this?

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program that allows you to read files that are stored in the popular Postscript Document Format (aka PDF). This data format has become a standard for documents on the web.(older versions of Acrobat Reader will likely permit basic reading/printing, but may not be able to support some of the additional features built into the PDF files, such as internal navigation and attachments, etc) Here is a link to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Why can’t I download the entire quarter at one time?

Normally, after the initial quarter of operation, you should be able to download the materials for the entire quarter at once. At the time of our original launch in June of 2007, the content for the 2nd and 3rd units was still being finalized. We plan to make the full-quarter download option operational in time for purchasing winter materials in the fall.

What operating systems and browsers are supported by LifeWay Lessons?

While it's not possible for us to test all of the combinations here are a few general recommendations:

Do I need a special program for the downloadable files?

Files to be downloaded have been compressed using the common "zip" file compression method. To access these files after you've downloaded them, a utility capable of "unzipping" the archived files is required. The most common Windows program for this purpose is WinZip. A free utility can also be found here.

My files are taking quite a while to download. Why is this happening?

Some of the lesson files (especially for the student curriculum) are quite large. The download file size for one week's materials for an adult class could be 2 - 3 MegaBytes; for a student class, the download file size could be 11 - 12 MB. Dial-up internet connections may take longer to download your files.

Here is a checklist of items to assist you in making a smooth transition:

After you complete entering your classes and processing your order, go to the "Manage Your Groups/Classes" Please review the e-mail addresses to make sure all are entered correctly. If there is an error just add the teacher again and enter the correct e-mail address. Click Save at the bottom of page and the click on the "invite leader" icon to send the e-mail.
